Introduction[edit]
A pleasant short canyon with enough action to keep it fun and light. Perfect for beginners to Ticino who need practice on slippery rock, doing little jumps and slides, and rappelling on the hip down slick walls. Great as an add-on to mak a double header, or just to avoid the crowds in the classics down in the heart of Ticino River valley.
Approach[edit]
Enter the watercourse at the bridge from either side. Ther is about 5 to 10minutes of annoying, slick creek walking until the start of the technical section.
Descent[edit]
First obstacle is a 20’ downclimb to a short slide. Next is a short 12’ nuisance rappel. The third obstacle is a 15’ Jump from a boulder mid-stream that requires a slight push out. The crux is next, which consists of four successive rappels, two of which place the rappeller in the flow for about half the drop. The big rappel at 115’ is first; the bolts on the right place the fall line just on the edge of the cascade unfortunately for an unexciting rappel; climb up left and anchor off a stout tree to rappel in the left flume for a fantastic short rope into a toboggan finish. The second in the series of four rappels is 30’ and provides a good dousing. The third is a short nuisance rappel. The last in this series is a 60’ from bolts right that provides a nice splashing for the bottom half. Th final obstacle is a 20’ low-angle rappel down a narrow channel from bolts left, then a short 8’ slide into the pool. A short creek walk of about 5’ puts you at a damn structure which diverts the flow completely, ruining any further fun.
Exit[edit]
At th damn diversion structure, head up a faint use trail on the right for about 15’ as it switch s back up to the road. At the road go right to the drop in.
