Introduction[edit]
Lower Bras Rouge is so short it is best combined with Middle Bras Rouge at a minimum, as both can be completed in 4-6 hours. Doing the full route Upper/Middle/Lower is not a long day with an efficient team and can be done in 8-10 hours. Lower starts at the bridge with 4 raps one right after another, the first two requiring a belay to get to the bolts. After the rappel sequence is a nice creek walk for about 15 minutes to the exit point where the highlight of the route is - the "ejector seat" slide. It sounds much scarier than it is. This slide consists of about a 10-foot long horizontal slide into a 15-foot free fall into a deep pool with an easy exit. Combined with the 5 slides in Middle, Bras Rouge is a slide-fest not to be missed if you like slides.
