Introduction[edit]

Fleurs Jaunes is one of the premier canyons on the island. The route consists of two sections. The upper section is a steep descent down 7 successive rappels, most of them requiring a belay to the anchor station. A couple of these drop into deep potholes that could be short-roped into, or jumped. Next is a boulder-hop and creek walk for about 20-30 minutes until you reach a rock beach on a precipice. The lower section is a nearly 500-foot rappel that is broken up into three pitches, culminating with a 320-foot free-hang off a truck-size boulder chockstone balancing on top of a significant narrows. This rappel is reminiscent of the final rappel in Heaps, yet slightly higher and dropping you into a narrows. The hike out can be done two ways. Either way it is a big hikie with 1500-2000 foot gain.
