Introduction[edit]

Info!Don't confuse this with the similar sounding but very different canyons Çarçovës and Arcovës!

A section of the Çorovoda river between Osoje and Çorovodë carves a deep dark slot, and provides an impress canyon experience in narrow unlit passageways.

There are multiple side canyons that provide alternative routes into the main narrows section.

The narrows exit into a disused military area, with bunkers dug deep into the limestone cliffs.

Approach[edit]

Classic Route from Osoje[edit]

Follow the description in Book link Albania Canyoning for details on setting up the shuttle vehicle in Osoje.

Sneak Route (with 200m multi-pitch)[edit]

Park at switchback 40.52921012214915, 20.256548763481227 and head SE down into canyon via goat trails and down-climbs. Drop into the canyon near bunkers on opposite side of canyon. Local villagers harass people accessing the bunkers or the track down to them, hence the overland approach.

Work downstream bypassing smaller drops, and rapping larger ones until the forest clears. Once the canyon opens the multi-pitch starts, at 40.524269768597485, 20.260093055418398.

Multi-pitch[edit]

  • 10m traverse line bolts DCR to R1 bolts on face next to pour-over.
  • R1 - 40m - straight down to exposed hanging R2 station on bulge.
  • R2 - 95m - straight down, partly free-hanging, (anchor station at roughly 60m on small platform for shorter ropes), down to R3 on down-sloping platform, bolts not visible until near by, space for 3 people. Second pair of bolts 3m below on lip.
  • R3 - 55m - down into a deep dark slot. Deviation as you enter the slot helps keep rope away from rock.
