Introduction[edit]

True to it's name, alcatraz is a challenging slot canyon which will require stamina (and potentially a small frame!) to escape.

For a full history of it's name and first descent, checkout the write up by Scott Patterson - Climb Utah!

Approach[edit]

More driving directions to come.

Do not attempt to take BLM Road 1619. It is in extremely poor condition with multiple washes that required hours of digging to make passable.

Descent[edit]

Rappel 120’ into the slot below, rigging off the bumper of your truck. There are no other anchors nearby.

There is an additional 50’ rappel shortly after this drop in.

Everything else in canyon can be downclimbed.
