Introduction
From The Best Canyoning in Portugal:
The Badanela stream route is the longest canyoning route in Flores and has a catchment area of considerable size. Starting on the central plateau of the island, it goes down a long valley towards the dam upstream of Fazenda de Santa Cruz. The exit from Badanela Superior is difficult, by a trail often hidden by vegetation. Only groups of technical and physically prepared people should descend this route. The best time is after some days without rainfall and with a good weather forecast. Start early and take an equipment kit, since some anchors might have been destroyed by floods. It is an unfrequented route, with narrow sections and water passages, dangerous with higher flows. The environment is remarkably diverse, wild, and lush.
