Introduction[edit]

Rio Barman is a short and concise canyon located in Val Resia valley. Rio Barman is more known by name Fontanone Barman and is a major tourist attraction in Val Resia. The water comes from the underground cave and after 200 meters displays, like a waterfall Fontanone Brman. Very nice view is from the bottom of the canyon, where you see waterfalls in all their mightiness. Waterfalls are very beautiful and are surrounded with green moss. From Tarvisio or Carnia drive to Pontebba Resuitta where you turn for Val Resia. At the first junction turn to Stolvizza and at second junction turn for Sella Carnizza (sign for Fontanone Barman). Continue on this road, pass the village Lischiazze and soon you notice dirt road on the right, which is barricaded with big rocks. There are also signs for the Fontanone Barman and a small chapel. Park your car on the left side of the road (parking lot).

From the parking lot follow the good marked path CAI 703 (dirt road on the beggining), at the intersection turn left for the Fontanone Barman (sign) and after a few meters turn right on marked path Sentiero naturalistico Barman. Follow this path to the top of the hill and keep your eyes open to find the turnoff to the left. You need to cross a dry creekbad and soon you will find marked path wich descents to the top of the Fontanone Barman.
