Bonao is a town at the threshold of enormous lush mountains in the Dominican Republic. There are nearly endless potential for canyons in the area.
This was the site of the 2024 Loma de Blanco rendezvous. It was organized, hosted, and directed by Edu Gomez, who also lead the first descents of nearly all the canyons in the area. There are many more routes in the area that we did not get a chance to descend during this rendezvous. Contact him for more information on routes in the area.
For the rendezvous, we stayed at the Complejo Ecoturistico Rio Blanco facility, located at 18.8775, -70.5068. They have rooms for rent with bunkbeds, showers, and provide a restuarant. It is also a popular place for locals to come and eat on daytrips up from Bonao. The facility is located in a great location for short access to the canyons.
