Introduction[edit]
The highest (*above ground) cascade waterfall in England.
Approach[edit]
Free parking in the lay-by near The Temperance Inn.
Obvious, but steep, approach trail to the top of The Calf plateau. The beck is forked near the top - ignore and cross the first stream (on the trail), then begin your descent when the trail meets the next one.
Descent[edit]
Exit[edit]
Egress from the stream on river left. Return via the same trail used for approach.
Red tape[edit]
There are concerns about erosion. No restrictions in place at present.
Beta sites[edit]
More information can be found through UK Canyon Guides Association (?)
Trip reports and media[edit]
Commercial trips are run - videos are up on youtube.
Background[edit]
Very slippery inside the canyon. Care should be taken with the moss and vegetation inside the canyon - quite fragile.
Double bolted on all but one drop (that isn't a mandatory rap). Maillons on rappel points (one 10m rappel has a pearshaped maillon). All anchors seem well placed so edge protection concerns are low.
Small water cachement area.
