Introduction[edit]
Jump, slide, waterfall rappel, waterfall rappel, and many more jumps and slides. This is one of the best canyons in the Medellin region. It is best done with the local guide Manuel (contact info?) who can show you all the jumps, check water depths, and many hidden slides. It is impossible to find all of these features without a guide. Arranging a motorcycle shuttle to the top is easier done with the help of a guide as well.
The 'R' rating is due to several hydraulics. A fatality occurred here in 2016 but it was not a canyoneer.
Approach[edit]
Descent[edit]
R1: best done short roped 10-15 feet above the pool for a great slide finish
R2: it looks very intimidating from the top but it is possible to stay canyon left to just avoid getting pummeled until the bottom 20 feet, when you can move into the middle.
Exit[edit]
The canyon officially ends in a spectacular gorge before opening up with fields on both sides. In this gorge you can climb up on the wall on DCR to do a 13m jump into the pool from various locations (lower heights possible). From here you can take off wetsuits and hike out, or if you'd like a bit more, continue downstream just over 1km further, which adds a couple more small jumps.
