Introduction

One of the best canyons in Ecuador and likely all of South America. Deep, dark, mysterious, and plenty of flow.

There are tourist groups that do at least part of the canyon.

Professional Spanish canyoneers have been through this canyon. They never bothered to share any beta, although photos are rife on the internet.

The pin location given in the map on this page is the apparent parking area, where there is a sign that says ;Finca La Emilia- Encanonado del Empalme'. The canyon is very close nearby. The author of this page has not done the canyon, but understands it is nearby and widely known by locals.

If you go, speak with locals first. Local company 'Tayos Expeditions' has plenty of information. The canyon is well-bolted and has approach and exit trails.
