Introduction
From The Best Canyoning in Portugal:
This route, relatively short and with easy logistics, is pleasing and playful, but the rock is very slippery. The stream is in a gorge surrounded by abundant vegetation. A sequence of deep lagoons and a succession of prismatic disjunctions along the canyoning are the principal attractions of this canyoning route. The catchment upstream of this section has a significant area and a dam upstream. It is recommended to check the discharge flow regime of the dam and the weather forecast. Do not descend this route if the conditions are adverse. The precipitation upstream may cause flash floods, eventually aggravated if discharges from the dam occur. The water circuit of the Além Fazenda plant receives the water from several streams (Fazenda, Além, Meio, Algares and Cascalho), has an installed power of 1600 kW and produces about half of the electricity consumed on the island.

Trip reports and media
9 Sept. 2016: Very fun, 5 jumps up to 30ft., 2 waterslides up to 20ft, 2 rappels up to 75ft. Group of 5. Canyon time 1:20. We set up a shuttle. First rappel off bridge about 40 feet. Final rappel 75 feet into a gigantic pool, ledge about 30 feet from the bottom may be a jumping point but we did not try it. Water is dark brown from tannins. All jumps and slides must be tested by rappel first.
