Introduction[edit]

Approach[edit]

A long approach and a long exit. This canyon could be done in 1 day but it would be a large effort. Recommended walk a halfday to camp the night before descent at Point Pure.

Descent[edit]

From memory, lengths are likely inacurate and some pitches might be missing.

  • R1 32m, CL Tree
  • DC 3m, handline on CR to help
  • R2 10m, CR XX
  • R3 58m, CL XX. Test your pulldown, the bolts create a 90 degree angle which leads to nasty friction. Recommended you bring a sling and mallion to create a single point for the rope to run through.
  • DC 5m, CL tree
  • R4 20m, CL Tree
  • R5 20m, CC Tree
  • R6 30m, CC XX. Anchors can be found on the top of the large (~6m tall) boulder in CC upstream.
  • Rockhopping over large boulders in constriction, rope likely required if wet.
  • R7 10m, CR Tree
  • 3x DC
  • 500m of creek walking
  • DC 8m on smooth rock, into impressive constriction
  • Jump, highly technical 2-3m into waist deep water. Can be avoided with a difficult downclimb on CL.
  • Jump, pleasant 2m into a deep oasis-like pool (shallow points exists due to rocks, check depth first). Can be avoided with an abseiled off a tree CL.
  • Creek walk 1km

This canyon would be a delight with flow, though there would be many difficult hazards. All DCs would require abseiling.
