The city of Grand Junction refers to the joining of the Colorado and Gunnison Rivers. Situated on I-70, Grand Junction is a gateway to Utah for many Colorado travelers.
This subregion includes the south side of the Bookcliffs, canyons at the base of Grand Mesa and canyons on Pinon Mesa to the south (north of the Unaweep Divide), but excluding those within the borders of the Colorado National Monument.
