The hub for canyoning in the state of Hidalgo is the small town of Agua Blanca de Iturbide. Has user description More information

Has user description  The hub for canyoning in the state of Hidalgo is the small town of Agua Blanca de Iturbide. It has two outstanding canyons, Chiflon Integral and Boca de Santo, both about a 30 minute drive from town. There are several other a3 and a4 canyons that are worthwhile, particularly Monroy, Medio Chiflon, San Martin, and Camino Real. After these there are many low quality 1 and 2 star canyons. Agua Blanca de Iturbide was the home of the infamous RIC 2024, which was cancelled after the first day because the organizer did not obtain the required permit from the state. As is the case in all of Mexico, if leaving a car at a trailhead, to avoid break ins remove all valuables, open the glove box, leave windows down and leave the doors unlocked. This will give a clear signal to would be thieves that there is nothing to steal and there is no reason to smash and grab. This is the common practice among locals.
