Summary[edit]
At the first long, low-angle tiered waterfall in the lower section, a canyoneer reached the end of the fixed handline and tried sliding the last 15 ft into the pool below. His foot caught on a ledge and he broke his fibula. With his partner's support he was able to complete the remainder of the canyon.
The fixed handline has since been removed from this location and replaced with a single bolt on canyon left.
Accounts[edit]
(merged from second incident report)
Experienced canyoneer used fixed handline in middle section as a "controlled slide". He stopped at the end of the rope, then continued to slide the rest of the way. His foot got caught on an un-seen edge twisting it. He was able to continue on, painfully finishing the canyon with the help of his friend. It was later found that his fibula was broken, just above his ankle.
