Summary[edit]

A group member attempted a slide in LSA without the knowledge that erosion had caused the end of the slide to become substantially more hazardous. In particular, about 4-5' of sediment loss resulted in a previously buried steep/vertical section, with large exposed rocks at the bottom. The canyoneer lost control of the slide above this section before they could see the increased hazard, and was unable to stop on the slippery rock. They suffered bruises on the sacral area but no other injuries; given the environment at the bottom of the (previously) slide, they could have easily suffered an ankle or knee injury as well. The canyoneer was able to finish the canyon without additional incident.
