The Roan Plateau is a plateau in western Colorado containing a variety of natural resources and scenic terrain: high ridges, deep valleys, desert lands, waterfalls, cutthroat trout, mountain lions, bears, rare plants, and oil and natural gas. Some of Colorado's tallest waterfalls can be found in the Roan Plateau, but these are large single waterfalls off the higher mesa plateau into eroded shale valleys below, rather than canyons with continuous sequential drops.
