The San Juans are THE place to go for canyoning in Colorado. Has user description More information

Has user description  The San Juans are THE place to go for canyoning in Colorado. Outside the San Juans there are only 3 known high quality canyons in the state - East Inlet Narrows, Zapata Gorge, and the McCoy Chutes. The San Juans are the large range in the SW corner of Colorado that includes Durango, Silverton, Ouray, Telluride, Lake City, Pagosa Springs and Wolf Creek Pass. They contain the highest concentration of Class C canyons in the U.S.

The town of Ouray is in the north of this range and hosts the annual Ouray Canyon Festival in mid August.

The town of Silverton is in the middle of this range and is the home of a rendezvous over Labor Day weekend.
