Introduction[edit]

The Tara River is considered the largest and longest canyon in Europe. It is a canyon with high water-flow and and can be navigate with raft of with pack-raft. The most beautiful part stretch from Premćanski Most to Nešković. No rappel are present but several rapids exist and need to be evaluate in accordance to the water level.

A general indication of the rapid level can be the following:

  • May-June-July II III IV rapids level
  • July-August-September I II III rapids level

Along the Tara river there are several rafting companies that can organize a canyon excursion. Nonetheless, if you are an experienced kayker or pack-rafter you may want to paddle the canyon in a self organized way.

The Rafting Kamp Tara 87 Team are very friendly and they can rent out 2-persons inflatable-raft for 50 Euro per day. In particular Boian (+387 66 261 695) and her sister will give you all the information that you need and may organize the shuttle from their camp to the put-in. The route from the Rafting Kamp Tara 87 to the put-in last 3-4 ours in a very beautiful and scenic route. The shuttle will pass from the Bosnia-Montenegro passport control so bring your passport!! During the navigation there is no checking point so you can keep in a safe and dry bag your passport.
