Introduction[edit]

Mariee is basically a multi-pitch stunt rappel down a 7-stage cascade. It is a good option on a rainy day when other canyon routes in Salazie are un-runnable. Suitable for beginners, there is nothing very technical. Most of the rappel stations call for a safety line. The watercourse is slippery. The approach hike involves a nearly vertical climb using tree roots like a ladder. The exit hike is quick and simple.
