How to improvise a harness with webbing
Waist Harness[edit]
Useful as emergency harness or super-lightweight harness:
- Use 15' or more of webbing
- Follow illustrations to tie
- Finish off with Square knot, then backup each side with Overhand knot.
NOTE: Intertwining the waist loops makes for a MUCH more comfortable waist harness (by Mark Kenzie, Cave Search & Rescue Team)
Chest Harness[edit]
Useful as emergency harness or super-lightweight harness:
- Use 15' or more of webbing
- Follow illustrations to tie
- Finish off with Square knot, then backup each side with Overhand knot.
Full Body Harness[edit]
Useful to raise/lower unconscious victims:
- Use 20' webbing tied in large loop with water knot
- webbing tucked under the neck, arms and legs
- bring section between the feet up onto the chest
- Push webbing below the arms through the chest loop
- Clip carabiner to join the two arm loops and the chest loop
