Overview
Zion National Park and surrounding region consists of many classic and picturesque sandstone slot canyons. This area is hot with potential monsoon cycles in the summer. Springtime can be quite cold in potholes. The higher elevations experience ice and snow in the winter and present new canyoning challenges. During the drier months, some canyons are said to be in "hard mode" if the potholes are empty and it's necessary to execute pothole escapes.
