Introduction[edit]
The canyon provides an easy technical descent through interesting karst terrain, although the scenery is generally fairly average for a wet canyon.
An interesting side trip is recommended following the South Fork of the Artlish upstream from the junction of the two forks.
The nearby Artlish Caves are an interesting spot to visit. A bridge over the Artlish river was removed some years ago making it more difficult to access the caves. Some sources report a hike of approximately 4.5 km (2.8 mi) is required to reach the park boundary, and further hiking through old growth forest is required to reach the caves. Other report what it used to be a 25 minute hike is now 45 minutes due to the missing bridge. Wikimapia reports one of the entrances to the caves system lies just a short distance up the side canyon.
Approach[edit]
The approach, descent and exit are described in the Beta Sites listed below. The attached map was derived from interpreting their beta.
