Introduction[edit]
This canyon is described in limited detail in Canyons Near Sydney by Rick Jamieson. Help the Australian canyoning community by contributing track notes to ropewiki.com
Approach[edit]
Option 1. Follow the Hole in the Wall exit track to the Bungleboori North Branch AKA ***hackspit*** Dingo creek.
Option 1.1 Head down stream 20m, cross and ascend North East Canyon. There is a (dry) waterfall that is difficult to pass just up stream. Scramble out of the creek as soon as possible, aiming for the base of the Eastern Cliff line. Follow this and the creek eventually rises to meet the cliff then scramble up the slot climbing out on your right near the top. From here follow the ridge down into Banks.
Option 1.2 Head directly across from the HITW exit track and ascend the major North/South gully. This avoids some sketchy scrambles in North East Canyon and is a reasonably straight forward ascent up to the faint trail in from Rail Motor Ridge. Once on top follow the ridge down to Banks.
Option 2. Rail Motor ridge in from Deep Pass.
Descent[edit]
Exit[edit]
While the trace shows a down stream exit the most common way to exit is to head upstream through one of the prettier sections of the Bungleboori North Branch AKA ***mummble mummble somehthing about changing names to the less imaginative*** dingo creek, to the Hole in the Wall Exit.
