Introduction

A beautiful water-carved basalt narrows with small flow, just south of the town of Parowan. A great place to break up a long car ride and stretch the legs if you are heading to/from Zion from I-15 to the north.

Approach

Take the somewhat steep but well-worn hikers trail to the drop in. This is the recommended route, as it contributes less to erosion.

Alternatively, hike the trail parallel to the creek and then turn off following a use path that goes up some class 3/4 stuff, staying left of the scree field. Soon after the steepest scrambling, the slope will level out and you will T into a well-worn path that takes you to the drop-in.

Descent

R1: 105’ Tree, canyon left

R2: 45’ Bolts, canyon right

R3: 40’ Bolts, canyon left

R4: 55’ Bolts, canyon left

Exit

After the last rappel, follow to creek to a hiker trail that leaves the drainage on the left. Take this well-worn trail back to the car, taking care to stay on the main route. Due to recent floods, part of the trail now follows a wash.
