Background[edit]
David Noble says: A Kameruka Bushwalking Club party (Ted Hartley, Keith and Terri Seddon) visited this creek and the next one downstream during a trip in winter 1977 in an attempt to get onto the plateau nearby. As both creeks were canyons, they didn't find their pass out and as a result were overdue. Keith Seddon named both creeks "Hartleys Mistake Canyons". The canyon downstream has since gained the singular name "Hartleys Mistake Canyon". This canyon was named by Tim Hager (Catholic Bushwalking Club) who led a trip down this creek - probably in 1978.
