Introduction[edit]

A nice creek walk with 5 abseils close to Brisbane.

Approach[edit]

From the end of Fernlands Road, take the fire trails (Fernlands Break) down Cabbage Tree Creek. Turn left into the creek and begin the short creek walk along to the first abseil.

Descent[edit]

There are five bolted abseils in this Canyon. All lengths are approximate, and should be confirmed by further parties.

P1 - P4 all occur in relatively quick succession

  • P1: XX CR 4m. Optional
  • P2: XX CL 12m
  • P3: XX CR 15m
  • P4: XX CR 12m
  • Longer section of creek walking in-between P4 and P5
  • P5: XX CR 25m. Note that the location for this anchor is very low, on the slope. A sling and maillon have been placed on a tree back from the edge, with traverse lines or guided belay to the anchors able to be set up from the tree.

Exit[edit]

Continue along Cabbage Tree Creek for another 500m or so, until you hit the Township Break which crosses the creek. Turn right and head up the hill. Continue right onto Light Line Road, turning right onto Fernlands Break at the fork. Follow this trail back to the creek you entered in, and then back along to your car.
