Introduction[edit]
A canyon along the Death Road! This is a surprisingly lush canyon, particularly at the start, after a hike up a dry and in some places burned hillside. It finishes right at the Death Road. You'll need permission to drive up the death road, so it's best to hire a taxi to take you (and wait for you), or contact El Vagante canyoning in Coroico for them to obtain permission for you. Watch out for the hordes of bicyclists descending the Death Road!
The best time to descend this canyon is in the spring when there is more water, but even in Sep 2023 we had enough flow to make this enjoyable.
Approach[edit]
From the starting coordinate, hike steeply up the hillside to the top of a field, and then on the east side of the field find a farmer's trail contouring along the hillside for about a half hour, until it drops into the deep crevice of this canyon.
Descent[edit]
Number of rappels and max height are approximate as I don't remember the exact numbers.
Exit[edit]
Exit right at the Death Road.
Red tape[edit]
Permission required to descend. Please see Coroico region page for more information.
