Introduction[edit]

Chambers is among the best skinny slots in the Colorado Plateau and is a must-do canyon for those who are capable. The namesake "chamber" gets a beam of light around noon every day but this varies by an hour or so depending on the time of year. Very few if anyone can stay completely on the ground all the way through. Most will have to do a few upclimbs to get over the skinny spots. People upwards of 230 pounds have descended the canyon but you are going to need a much higher level of stemming and route-finding skills to get through the canyon above 200 pounds. Chambers is more difficult and physical than Alcatraz and Middle Leprechaun, so those can be great stepping stones before doing this canyon.
