Introduction[edit]
La Chorerra is the tallest waterfall in Colombia at 590 meters. In 2016 the upper section was explored by a French team and the middle section was explored by a Colombian team. The bottom section has not been done. The first descent has not been done as of Dec. 2018
Approach[edit]
Park the exit vehicle at the pull out on the outside of a hairpin turn at: 4.59515,-73.95212 The drive to the top of the drainage is via San Francisco and could take 1 to 2 hours and is at the end of the road at 10,400 feet at approximately: 4.60247,-73.96258. A much shorter shuttle is via Tres Esquinas but involves hiking an unknown trail for 2 miles.
Descent[edit]
The drop in is at the 10,200 foot elevation. The top section is akin to a jungle stream with many small drops. The main show begins with 6 major drops one after another.
