Introduction[edit]

This canyon is described in limited detail in Canyons Near Sydney by Rick Jamieson. Help the Australian canyoning community by contributing track notes to ropewiki.com

Approach[edit]

Walk-in on the Dione Dell exit track, avoid Margaret Falls and descend loose scree slopes on the down-canyon side.

  • 2) Cronus Fallls, 40m, tree left, swim.

  • 4) 5m, tree left, dry.
  • Walk 1km. Slow going.
  • 5) Oceanus or Reah Falls, 10m, but tree anchor on right 10m back, dry.
  • 6) Barralier Falls, 35-40m, tree right, swim.
  • Walk 1.5km. Far quicker walking.

Beta sites[edit]

Extract from Canyons Near Sydney guide book by Rick Jamieson:

Grade: 5 (difficult). Time: 2 days. Two 50 m ropes needed. About 9 abseils - lots of them ending in pools - a summer trip. Scramble down the steep gully on the left of Margaret Falls. This is the hardest part of the trip - go left near the bottom and down another gully. Alternatively, go right at Margaret Falls and do three double-rope abseils to get down this big drop. Exit back up Spinebender Ridge, or Mt. Great Groaner.
