Introduction[edit]

A rugged canyon near Tonto Basin, AZ with only one or two rappels and several downclimbs. The least worthwhile route in this area. Published for awareness.

Approach[edit]

Dirt road to turn down to trailhead should be doable for most passenger vehicle with good tires and driven carefully. All wheel drive vehicle recommend to drive down road to trailhead.

Follow trail #66 up. Eventually leave trail down slope into canyon.

Descent[edit]

A few downclimbs.

R1: Optional 150' off of large boulder in the water flow. Easy to bypass downclimbing RDC or via the watercourse in low / no flow conditions.

R2: 30' off of tree LDC. Possible challenging downclimb.

Notable downclimb a few feet after R2. About 10'. Some may want to rappel.

Exit[edit]

Follow canyon down a few downclimbs. Before it gets overwhelmingly brushy, head up and out of canyon LDC. Hike to trail #66. Follow trail #66 down to vehicle.
