Introduction[edit]
a non-committing canyon with a few cool waterfall rappels.
Approach[edit]
the approach shown on the map drops you in well above any good canyon. someone should find a drop in closer to the first rappel (one suggested on map, might need permission from Ejido)
Descent[edit]
creek walk down to where it narrows up, maybe 100 meters above el Cora waterfall. there are some downclimbs and maybe 3 optional jumps followed by a mandatory jump of maybe 3 m (could meat anchor with LAPAR), though you can downclimb in a slippery crack to within a meter or so of the water. R1: 35 m - from either bolts RDC or from a slung bush in waterflow. risk of bee attack RDC.
this drops you into the large beautiful pool at the base of the waterfall, which is a popular destination. you can either hike back up to the access road on a developed trail RDC or continue down for 2 bonus raps.
R2: 18 m from single bolt just RDC that will put you in the flow for the last part, downclimbable RDC (4th class, some exposure) or you can skip it LDC R3: 22 m 2 bolts just RDC of flow. a big outcrop splits the waterfall, making you choose which way to throw your rope. LDC seemed easier.
Exit[edit]
find a trail back up around the R3 LDC. climb back up around R2 on either side, retrace your steps back to el Cora waterfall trail up to the access road.
Red tape[edit]
might need El Cora ejido permission (definitely ask anyone you see if it's ok for you to go down to the creek).
