Introduction[edit]
Orange rock formations with beautiful waterfalls and hanging gardens after last rappel. The water has a very unusual color per the high concentration of suspended sulphur. Further downstream, more side tributaries enter and the water literally changes color before your eyes.
Approach[edit]
Park at a junction just after the bridge. The approach starts on your right.
Walk up the (potentially very muddy) cattle trail. After 800m the trail turns right, but on the left is a pedestrian gap in the fence. Follow the track through the grassy field for 400m. Briefly rejoin the cattle trail, but after only 80m, pickup a footpath through the woods on your left. This footpath is an old cattle migration trail, and largely easy to follow. It leads you down to the gear-up location at the river, just downstream of an old bridge.
Descent[edit]
Caution the rock is particularly slippery.
- R1: 40m
- Short slide (1.5m).
- R2: 23m
After R2 you'll discover a bunch of hiking trails, signs & bridges.
- R3: 15m
Exit[edit]
Follow the river downstream until just before the road crosses. There is an old suspension bridge just below the road crossing. Exit the creek DCL and follow the road back to your car.
Red tape[edit]
Using the described route requires no payment or negotiation. The original beta described a different approach, requiring paying the business owners alongside the canyon.
