Introduction[edit]

A rugged Hellsgate Wilderness canyon. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.2853275614692860&type=3

Approach[edit]

Start at Hellsgate TH. Follow road/trail 893 to Hellsgate Trail #37. Follow trail #37 to saddle above Sweetwater Tank. Head off trail to Sweatwater Tank and down small drainage to Goswick Canyon. Follow Goswick Canyon down to first rappel. There will be a few fun downclimbs along the way and possible ways to bypass some pools mostly going RDC.

Descent[edit]

R1: 25' off of rock pinch into shallow pool. Possible to climb up and around RDC.

Downclimb RDC to avoid second pool.

R2: 80' off of rock pinch about 20' back from drop.

R3: 85' off of tree LDC into avoidable pool.

Follow canyon down to confluence with another major canyon.

Exit[edit]

Follow canyon up. There will be a few small up climbs, nothing more than a few class 4 moves. Eventually canyon shallows out. Exit canyon up to ridge on the right. Then head back down into Goswick Canyon. Follow Goswick Canyon up and back the way you came on approach.
