Introduction
The Roaring Fork carves interesting features through Gneiss and Granite in the current stream bed (The Cascades) and the previous stream bed (The Ice Cave).
This is a fun, family friendly area for a short hike to explore interesting geology. The Ice Cave could be downclimbed as an easy 160' long through trip starting at the top if willing to get wet feet.
Waiting until after snow melt completes will show more of the features in The Cascades and nearby Devil's Punchbowl Swimming Hole.
