Introduction[edit]

In reality, this canyon is used more as an access ot or an exit from other canyons in the area. It is very straight and narrow, very much like Zorro, but without the abseils.

This canyon is described in limited detail in Canyons Near Sydney by Rick Jamieson. Help the Australian canyoning community by contributing track notes to ropewiki.com

Approach[edit]

If you are going DOWN Hailstorm Retreat, you need to walk the HITW access track to the obvious campsite, the HITW track goes left, the track you want is straight ahead and goes over the rise of the hill.

Follow this obvious track for quite some time, eventually, this track takes a fairly obvious left, you need to leave the track and continue to follow the top of the ridge you are on towards HRC, the bush is very open and the walking easy. There is NO track once you leave that other access track.

If you are coming UP Hailstorm retreat from the boori, there is a scrubby creek at the confluence with the South branch of the Boori, there was a small rock cairn at the base of a tree here. Scramble up the first bit and you will find a canyoners track on the right side of the creek (Looking up). Follow this up and up, eventually you will pass through an overhang and Hailstorm Retreat will start proper not far past here.

The route has been put into OSM to follow.
