Introduction

Beautiful, short, limestone slot canyon quite close to Las Vegas. This is a good canyon for beginners who want to learn to rappel with experienced people and apply those skills.

There are at least 4 rappels. Can be a total of 6. The very first one can be easily downclimbed and not count as a rappel. The very last one is a very awkward downclimb and it is good to have a rope-assist. Beginners may feel safer to handline down or just rap down.

Descent

Shortly after dropping in you will come to the top of what can be the first rappel or it can be easily downclimbed.

Rappel 1: 10'-15' Can be very easily downclimbed. There is a short slide.

Rappel 2: 35'-40' from a pinch-point RDC on the chockstone and probably nicest rappel anchored off of a large chockstone. At the time of this update (3/23/2026), there are 3 straps of webbing through a quick link for this anchor. All in good condition.

Rappel 3: 10' About 15-20 feet from the bottom of chockstone rappel. Anchor is off the bottom of a small tree. Beginners may find it a bit challenging to start going down because the rock face is vertical inwards.

Rappel 4: 35' from a pinch-point of large boulder/chockstone. The rocks have sharp surfaces. Take care to not have rope slide too much on the surface as you start going down. As you go down, stay to the right until you get to a small ledge and then to left as rope pulls you that way. Slippery surface on small chute at the end.

Rappel 5: 15' from cairn/deadman anchor.

Rappel 6: 15' cairn anchor. Can be a very awkward scramble down for beginners. Better to handline down or just rappel down for better control.

Exit

You will get to the wash you came up on. Scramble down to the right to get to the wash. At the end of the scramble, stay to the left on a trail almost all the way to the trailhead. There is another trail to the to the right that can be taken and eventually it will cross the wash and will meet the same trail to the left.
