Summary
3 person party. One expert canyoneer, two beginners. All have significant rope/climbing experience. Second person down the fourth rappel slipped and had their foot slide under a log standing vertically in the waterfall, almost completely hidden by the water. The force of the water pinned the foot between the log and the rock, then folded the canyoneer's body over. The trapped canyoneer was able to turn their head to allow a partial air pocket. The canyoneer below was able to free climb back up the the trapped person, and use their body to create a larger air pocket for the trapped canyoneer. During this time the third member was rigging to come down to assist also. After approximately three minutes of struggle, the trapped foot was able to be pulled free and after appropriate rest, and assessment of the relatively minor leg injuries, the group was able to complete the canyon without outside assistance.
