Introduction[edit]

A beautiful scenic canyon that is located next to Jibaro canyon and is a bit higher in elevation. There are some over hung rappels and your packraft inflation stage is canyon right at the river.

Approach[edit]

Use the same approach as the approach for Jibaro canyon. We used the north fork of Jibaro canyon which has a 170 ft rappel and hiked back up to the top of hill canyon right to access Jabroni canyon. It is possible to traverse the ridge over to Jabroni Canyon.

Descent[edit]

Descend down the north fork of Jibaro canyon and enter into the wash of jibaro. After you have completed the second rappel and you are in the wash look right and hike up the hill to the top of Jabroni Canyon.

Exit[edit]

Exit using your packraft and head out to AZ hot spring or other available exits.

Red tape[edit]

You must wear a USCG approved PFD and watercraft worthy of the colorado river.

Beta sites[edit]

Do not place bolts in this canyon or any other canyon, there are plenty of options for building anchors. Some of the rapides are plated steel and are kong rapides. mostly Deadman anchors so inspect and bring additional webbing to replace as needed.

Background[edit]

This drainage was originally descended in 2022 and named Escape Hatch Canyon due to how you 'escape' the canyon upon arrival at the river to inflate and launch packrafts. Jabroni Canyon is a name alteration by a subsequent party.
