Introduction
A fun way to drop into West Clear Creek with only about a 15 minute hike to get to Hanging Gardens from the confluence. https://youtu.be/1zBaTklXoIw
Approach
From the car park hike out of the drainage until you feel it necessary to get into the wash to the first drop.
Descent
A handful of rappels followed by one of the best locations in WCC.
R1: 60' off boulder. Or tree DCR above watercourse
watch crack at edge.
R2: 60' rock pinch LDC.
R3: 60' rock pinch LDC.
Pack rope and enjoy downclimbs to r4.
R4: 100' tree RDC. Two tier drop.
R5: 85' off tree RDC and back or 65 off deadman anchor.
Exit
Exit up behind the Gardens just upstream from the spring where you will pick up a trail back up to the top and your vehicle.
Trail is sparse and inter-woven with game trails. Essentially work your way up and to the right to gain the main ridge above HG. Once on the ridge connect with social trail to the rim enjoying breaks in some of the largest lichen covered alligator junpiers with amazing views. Dont forget to stop and enjoy!
Alternatively, you can hike back up stream through White Box and exit up the social trail to Cash Tank. This is a longer but easier and much more enjoyable exit, given the right conditions. The White Box section of WCC features multiple long swimming sections though high canyon walls.
