Introduction[edit]
Quite possibly the quickest way down to Maiden Falls.
Approach[edit]
There's a lot of overgrowth and fallen trees to navigate—expect to go around, over, and under obstacles. The canyon is quite brushy.
Descent[edit]
4 rappels under 75'.
Rap 1: 50 feet from juniper RDC
Rap 2: 50 feet from pine tree RDC
Rap 3: 55 feet from shrub LDC
Rap 4: 75 feet from pinch point in watercourse.
Bring extra webbing or a retrievable anchor.
Exit[edit]
Scramble up the long rock slide behind the falls to the cliff band. Traverse clockwise near the base of the cliff band (follow GPX), looking for the least treacherous route. Do not climb too high. There are many areas that you may get cliffed out. Once around the cliff band and up the drainage, you'll follow sporadic elk trails back to the top.
Helmets are advised as you trudge your way up the loose, ever-shifting rock slide.
