Introduction[edit]

Motley Canyon is a very beautiful narrow canyon. There is only one mandatory rappel and it is at the beginning of the technical section. This rappel will need a swimming disconnect for the first person. In many sections, stemming and bridging is required to get down and continue. Many sections of the canyon walls are conglomerate rocks with beautiful fist sized rocks jutting out; hence the name Motley Canyon. The canyon was discovered by locals that live in a village at the bottom of the canyon. However, they visit only the last certain distance from bottom. It was the team from Bangalore Adventure school that did a first descent from top to bottom.

During rainy season, the canyon is prone to flash flood. Also, there is a small section of quick sand towards the end of the canyon which can be avoided if careful.
