Introduction[edit]

Canyon features multiple rappels and jumps of various size and complexity. Canyon walls open up and close in tight 3 times making for some stunning views.

Approach[edit]

Park at the pull out on the side of the road and walk to the creek 50ft, immediately start walking down creek to 1st rappel which can also be jumped.

Descent[edit]

All anchor stations are bolted

R1 - 4m into a nice pool

R2 - 6m Anchor DCL

R3 - 4m Bolts DCR

R4 - 6m use DCR hand line to reach bolts

R5 - 25m DCR

R6 - 3m Bolts center canyon on rock or can be slide with bent legs

R7 - 25m bolts DCL final 2m can be jumped from small ledge in the flow

R8 - 85m use hand line DCL to reach bolts on backside or a rock near the falls. Rappel directly down the fall line. Do not try and move into the falls and you well eventually be in the line towards the lower half of the falls. Final feature for the brave is a 12m jump that is taken from a ledge you naturally land on....there is a small pothole near the big rock, jump directly out through the falls into a very deep pool.

The final waterfall is quite beautiful, and the 12m jump is possibly the best jump in Costa Rica...if you can't jump, just finish the rappel landing in the pool. there is also a rock ledge DCL that can be climbed and jumped very easily if the big jump was too much, this is a 2.5m jump.

Exit[edit]

Use trail headed up the hillside path, the path Y's and you go right. this takes you to a gate that then leads to a farm road you walk out on towards the land owners house. when you get to the gate you take a right turn.

Red tape[edit]

This canyon is on private land, the owner charges 6 USD per person to exit his land.
