Introduction[edit]

The Music Chamber is one of those rare places of inimitable, serene beauty that can only be found on the Colorado Plateau. A place that stops you in your tracks, like the Cathedral of Neon Canyon. On top of that, the hike through the chute of Muddy Creek is very special, a miniature, yet private, version of the Zion Narrows without the crowds. For sheer beauty on the approach, in the canyon, and on the exit hike down the Muddy, this is a top-tier route. Although not very technical, to downclimb all of the drops requires pulling off a couple R moves. If water levels are high enough, taking a packraft for the exit makes this one of the best routes in the area.

Approach[edit]

2 hours down the wash.

Descent[edit]

There are 7 anchors. All can be hand-lined down with relative ease. Most canyoneers will be able to downclimb 2 or 3 of them without assistance. Most canyoneers will require a hand-line on 3 or 4 of them. Only the highly-skilled canyoneer will be able to downclimb all of them without using a handline, the first two being the most difficult to get into.

Exit[edit]

3 hours down the Muddy, starting with a stunning stroll through the Chute.
