Introduction[edit]
Naylee Birthday Canyon is another short canyon similar to it's neighbors in the area. It contains nice geology and a few small potholes.
Approach[edit]
From Bangs Canyon Trailhead, walk down Tabeguache Trail for about 1 mile. After the trail splits into "easy" and "hard" sections, take the right "hard" path. Across the slick rock, there will be a small watercourse which quickly pours into a recessed "slot" after crossing the road. There should be a juniper tree just DCL of the road crossing. This is the drop in.
Descent[edit]
From the drop in, anchor off the juniper and rappel ~80 ft into the small "slot". Admire the nice bedding on the way down. From the bottom continue following the watercourse through the slabs and small potholes. After about .5 mi in the watercourse, reach the second rappel into the confluence with rough canyon. There is potential for some avoidable water before the anchor. Anchor from tree DCL for the ~ 100 ft rap.
Exit[edit]
From the confluence with rough canyon, exit down canyon until reaching a large flat slick rock area. From here take the trail left and back to the Tabeguache Trail, following it back to the car.
