Since December 2, 2014, a new decree from the Government of Aragon has defined the regulations for canyoning in the Sierra de Guara.

Access: Access to some canyons is restricted or even prohibited. Others are open year-round. See the list below.

Mandatory equipment: Each person must use a harness equipped with a descender and carabiner for canyons involving rappels; a rope of appropriate length is also required. A full wetsuit is mandatory in the following canyons: Palomeras del Flumen, Formiga, Gorgonchón, Gorgas Negras, Barrasil, Peonera, Balcés Superior, Oscuros de Balcés, Estrechos del Balcés, Vero, and Fornocal.

Group size: A minimum interval of ten minutes between groups must be observed in all canyons. Group sizes (excluding the guide) are limited to: o 10 people for the Vero, Barrasil, Peonera, Balcés Superior, and Estrechos de Balcés canyons. o 4 people for the Gorgonchón canyon. o 8 people for all other canyons.

The following canyons or sections of canyons are PROHIBITED from December 1 to June 30: Barrancos de Lazas, Escomatué, San Chinés, and Piedra Foratata; the Yara and Formiga canyons upstream of their confluence; and Barranco del Diablo.
