Introduction[edit]
A rugged and remote West Clear Creek canyon. Of the drainages in south WCC this one is the shortest and most worthwhile.
A stock high clearance vehicle can make it to the parking area with no issues. Subarus and sedans won't make it.
This section of WCC sees very little traffic and is very pristine. Please help keep it that way.
Approach[edit]
Drive to rim tank and start your approach from there.
Descent[edit]
R1 is about 100' and free hanging. After the first rappel pack up your rope and downclimb ~1,000' to the last rappel sequence. The last three rappels are under 135'.
Exit[edit]
The best part of the route is the down stream section of west clear creek known as Red Box. Enjoy a few swims before returning the way you came. Enjoy multiple 4th/5th class scrambles up Rim Tank Canyon to get back to your vehicle.
