"Got rained out of our planned canyons so headed over here for some pothole practice. Good fun even though it was a bit cold and sprinkling!

Introduction[edit]

Interesting spot with many dozen potholes of all shapes and sizes. This is a great option for when all other canyons in the area are a no-go due to weather. The potholes are not part of a large drainage, so they probably won't flash flood (although it can get pretty windy in there).

If you're looking for a spot with easy access to many dry potholes of varying difficulty levels, this is it. Practice pothole escape techniques, partner assist climbs, sandtrap anchors, potshots... or even make up a fun obstacle course hopping from one pothole to the next and eventually out of the cliff.

Don't be fooled thinking that there is no challenge here - some of these potholes are over 30ft deep to the lowest lip and likely inescapable without specific tools and skills (hence the PG rating). It should go without saying, but don't shove your whole group in one of these holes unless you are certain you can escape.

Approach[edit]

Hike up the rock.

Background[edit]

We got rained out of our canyon options in Nov 2023 and needed something else to do, so Feroz found this spot by analyzing LiDAR data and we had a good time getting in and out of holes.
